The Transom Book Club shall resume in the coming weeks! I’ll be putting a poll out on Tuesday for paying subscribers to pick a date — I’m thinking Thursday evening of the 7th or the 14th. Our summer book was Empires of the Sea by Roger Crowley, which I hope you got a chance to read.
The full September issue of The Spectator World just dropped. You can find all the articles within at that link, and as always, if you haven’t yet subscribed, you can do so here and use the code “transom” for an extra three free months.
This edition of the magazine is particularly packed, and beyond my cover story on the left’s targeting of the Supreme Court — which prompted more attention this week with Clarence Thomas firing back — there’s a great back of the book with pieces on J.K. Rowling’s rebellion against leftist orthodoxy, how Hollywood can’t handle Superman, and a beautiful piece by William Newton on the Madrid-based artist Alberto Guerrero.
One thing I would encourage you to do is not just subscribe digitally, but to the print version as well. In a time when we do most of our reading on our phones, the feel of a solid, beautiful printed page in your hands is a real escape.
As always, thank you for reading The Transom. Have a great weekend!
